So I tried using a 3/4-inch drive on a 1-inch bolt in a tight spot, thinking I could 'make it work'

The socket split clean in half and shot across the shop like a bullet, my foreman just shook his head and said 'that's why God made the right tools'. Anyone ever have a simple job turn into a metal shrapnel show?

That line "the scars must tell quite a story" is a nice thought, but my scars don't really tell much of a story. They're just little pockmarks on my arm from a grinder wheel that decided to eat itself. The real story is how I spent three hours picking tiny metal slivers out of my forearm with tweezers and a magnet, and then my foreman just handed me a new wheel without saying a word, like it was just another Tuesday.

Been there, done that, got the shrapnel.

@the_morgan That phrase really hits home. What kind of situation left you with that kind of lasting damage, if you don't mind sharing? It sounds like you came out the other side, but those scars must tell quite a story. I'm always struck by how a few words can sum up such a rough experience.
