Shoutout to the foreman who caught my flange alignment error
Was fitting a 24-inch header on a job in Gary last Wednesday. Read the prints twice but still had the flange off by 3/8. Old foreman walked over, didn't say nothing, just tapped the backside with his wrench. Heard him mutter "she's leaning east" under his breath. Realized I was rushing because the welder was waiting. That one comment made me slow down. Anybody else have a senior guy save them from a dumb mistake with just a few words?

Old foreman saved my bacon once on a 10-inch steam line. Had the hanger spacing all wrong, and he just pointed at his watch and said "gravity don't take breaks." Made me rethink the whole layout. Slowed down and caught two more spots that would've been trouble later.

Man, that's a great story! I had a similar thing happen with a senior guy who caught me rushing hanger installation on a chilled water line. He just said "the pipe doesn't care if you're late for lunch," and that simple line made me slow down and spot a sagging section I'd totally missed.
