The thing that bugs me about people blaming smartphone cameras

I keep seeing posts here where someone takes a blurry shot of a moving pet or kid and then says 'my phone's camera is broken, time to upgrade.' I mean, maybe it's just me, but isn't it usually just the shutter speed being too slow? I had a friend in Austin last month who swore her iPhone was defective until I showed her how to lock the focus and exposure on a sunny spot. She got three clear shots in a row after that. Has anyone else noticed people jumping to blame the hardware instead of learning a tiny setting?

Realized I was guilty of this too a few years back with my old Galaxy. Took me way too long to figure out that my shaky hands and low light were the real problem, not the phone itself. Now I always check my settings before blaming the hardware.

My buddy swore his phone was broken until he cleaned the lens with his shirt.
