Spent $40 on a tripod for my phone camera and it completely changed my blurry pet photos

I was sick of every picture of my dog running (a golden retriever named Gus) looking like a smudge, so I grabbed a cheap little phone tripod off Amazon. It keeps the phone still, which helped me finally catch him mid-jump without that shaky blur, but now my cat just walks right into the frame and ruins the shot. Has anyone else here tried using a tripod for action shots with energetic pets, or is there a trick I'm missing?

lol it's wild how one cheap gadget can fix one problem and just expose another one you didn't even know you had.
