My dog ran into a lake and my phone camera went totally bonkers

Honestly, I was at Lake Tahoe last weekend trying to get a nice shot of the sunset. Right as I hit the shutter, my golden retriever splashed right in front of the lens and the water droplets made everything look like a blurry mess. I tried wiping the lens with my shirt but it just smeared more, so I ended up with like 10 useless photos. Has anyone figured out a quick fix for water spots on a phone camera when you're out on a hike or at a beach?

Shirt never works, it just pushes the water around. Microfiber cloth in your bag is the real trick, or even a quick lick of your sleeve if it's clean-ish (weird but works). Next time try blowing on the lens first to fog it up, then dry it fast with a napkin if you have one.

My buddy Tom tried the shirt trick on his phone camera at a concert last month and ended up with a smeary mess that looked like he'd wiped it with butter. He ended up ducking into the bathroom and using one of those brown paper towels they have in there, which somehow worked way better than his t-shirt ever did. Since then he keeps a little glasses cleaning cloth in his pocket, though I still catch him licking his sleeve when he's desperate and nobody's looking.
