My 2009 point and shoot beat my phone last weekend at my kid's soccer game
Pulled out my old Canon PowerShot from a drawer for my daughter's game in Springfield last Saturday and got sharper shots of her mid sprint than my phone ever has. Phone kept grabbing the grass behind her while the little camera locked on and stayed there. I think it comes down to how fast the old thing actually focuses when you press the button halfway, instead of guessing like my phone does. Anyone still shooting with an old point and shoot for action stuff, or is there a phone trick I'm missing?
I have to disagree that it's really about focus speed. My old S90 nails the focus fine but the shutter lag kills me every time, so I miss the sprint no matter what I do. Phone wins for me just because I can fire off a burst and sort through them later.
