Tried a tempering oven I made from an old filing cabinet and it melted my tongs
Built this thing in my backyard shop last weekend using a $20 thrift store cabinet and some firebrick. Thought I had the temp dialed in but walked away for like 10 minutes and came back to my tong handles drooping like wet noodles. The whole thing caught a little on the outside too. Anyone else try making cheap heat treating setups and have them go totally sideways? What did you use instead?
