Switched from coal to propane in my forge 3 months ago and I'm never going back
I ran bituminous coal in a brake drum forge for 6 years out back of my place near Akron. The clinker buildup was killing me, I was spending 20 minutes every session just cleaning out the fire pot, and my neighbors hated the smoke. Three months ago I finally plumbed in a propane setup with a Venturi burner and a 20 lb tank, and now I'm at heat in 5 minutes with almost zero cleanup. People say propane doesn't teach you fire management but honestly the time I got back goes straight into actual hammer time. Anyone here made the switch the other way and actually gone back to coal? Curious what pulled you back.
