Quench oil temp surprise fixed my splitting issues
Three weeks ago I cracked three chisels in a row using canola oil straight from the shed, turns out it was sitting at 50 degrees and the thermal shock was doing it. Warmed the oil to 130 in a steel bucket on the forge table and havent had a single split since, anyone else ever check their quench temp before a hardenable steel like 1095?
