I finally bought a proper post vise for my shop, cost about $300, and it's a total game changer for twisting and bending.

Perfect scrolls... @thomasm41 makes it look easy, but my first try looked like a sad pretzel.

Saw a video where a guy used one to make a perfect scroll for a gate... looked so much easier.

And it's wild how that pattern shows up everywhere, not just metalwork. I've been watching people try to fold fitted sheets for years, and we all want that perfect tidy rectangle, but reality is a lumpy ball. Same thing with learning to parallel park, you watch a video where someone nails it in one smooth motion, but your own first ten tries look like you're drunk driving a shopping cart. Pretty much every skill is that way, the gap between watching and doing is way bigger than any tutorial shows. Makes you wonder how many things we give up on because that first try looks so bad compared to the video.
