Found out a Roman nail from 79 AD sells for around $200 and I can't stop thinking about it
I was flipping through an old auction listing from London out of curiosity (I collect antique hand tools, not that I can afford them) and saw a single iron nail pulled from Pompeii go for close to $200. What got me was the description saying the forge marks were still readable after almost 2,000 years, which made me look at my own work on the anvil a lot differently. Does anyone here ever think about what a piece will look like after a couple thousand years, or is that just me being weird?
