Customer told me my hammer handles were too short, he was completely right

Had a guy come by my little shop in Spokane last Tuesday to pick up a cross pein I'd finished. He picked it up, swung it twice, and said “feels like you built this for a kid.” I was annoyed at first, ngl. But then I measured my handle length against my own arm and realized I'd been copying a pattern from an old book that assumed a shorter grip. Shortened the next one by 2 inches and used it for a week straight on a gate repair job. My elbows stopped aching by day 3. Has anyone else had a customer point out a sizing flaw that you just couldn't see yourself?
