Vent: paid $27 for a used paperback with a torn out last page, and I'm still not over it
Bought a copy of "The Wasp Factory" off a guy at a yard sale in Tulsa for $27 since it looked clean, got home, and the final page is just gone. Ripped out clean too, like someone didn't want anyone else to know how it ended. I get it, but now I'm sitting here wondering if I should just look up spoilers or hunt down another copy. Has this happened to anyone else, and did you ever find out what you missed?
Honestly something really close happened to me with a used copy of a Stephen King book, and the last chapter was just gone. What worked for me was checking the library first instead of buying another copy right away, since they had it and I could finish the ending for free. Tbh it also helped to read the missing pages online later just to see what I actually missed, which turned out to be a lot. Ngl $27 stings for a paperback with a ripped page, so maybe ask the seller for a few bucks back if you can still find him. Lesson for me was to flip through every page before paying, which I do now every single time.
