Ngl, I picked this up at a thrift store in Boise last Tuesday thinking it was a steamy beach read, but by the end the heroine was rebuilding a carburetor and the villain confessed to stealing a bag of mulch, so now I'm genuinely asking if anyone else has finished a book that clearly switched genres mid-print.

wait the VILLAIN confessed to stealing MULCH?? like that was his big bad moment? bro really said "yes i did it, i took the shredded bark from the garden center" and the heroine was just there with a spark plug wrench going "well now i gotta fix this mower AND process this criminal confession"?? that's wild. and page 212 is oddly specific too, like the publisher just glued two different books together and hoped nobody would notice. honestly i'd be more mad about the carburetor rebuild than the mulch theft, at least the mulch had some drama behind it.
