The ending of this kids book made me question reality
I was reading 'The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear' to my niece last week and the bear NEVER actually shows up, the whole thing is just the narrator messing with the mouse's head. Has anyone else found a book where the twist is basically just gaslighting?

Gaslighting implies intent, that bear is just a storytelling trick not malicious manipulation.

Same thing happened to me last week when my roommate kept saying he was just "playing devil's advocate" about his ex. It's way too easy to slap fancy labels on stuff that's really just plain manipulation.
