That Stephen King book where the ending literally made no sense to me

I finally finished 'Under the Dome' last night and the ending felt like King just gave up at 3am. Some alien kids playing with a snow globe? After 800 pages of survival horror and political drama? I threw the book across my room and it hit my lamp. Has anyone else felt completely ripped off by a huge buildup that goes nowhere like that?

Heard a podcast where they talked about King sometimes writing himself into a corner and that's exactly what happened here. Really felt like he just wanted to be done with that story.
