That ending from 'The Third Policeman' still bugs me
My buddy loaned me this old Irish novel last spring, said it was a classic. I got through the whole thing fine until the final chapter where the main character just... merges with a bicycle? No explanation, no dream sequence hint, just BAM he's part bicycle. Has anyone else had a friend recommend a book with a completely bizarre ending they didn't warn you about? I feel like I need a support group for this one.

Reading the Wikipedia plot summary actually helped me make sense of it.
