Hot take: the dog coming back at the end of that book was lazy writing, and my barber in Canton got me thinking
Was getting my hair cut at Ray's on Fulton last Friday and he brought up how much he hated the ending of that book where the dog shows up alive in the last chapter. I always thought it was sweet, but Ray said it cheapens the whole 300 pages of grief that came before it, and honestly he's got a point. We argued about it for a good 10 minutes while he had the clippers going. Anybody here think a happy ending can actually ruin a story, or is Ray just wrong?
