Had to choose between two different endings for my reading group pick

Last month my book club had to vote on which version of a novel we would read because there were two different endings out there. One version had the main character walking away from everything and the other had them staying to fix their mess. I picked the walking away ending because it felt more true to the character's journey through the whole book. The vote was 6 to 4 in favor of the staying ending so I had to go along with the group. After we finished everyone argued for 45 minutes about which ending was better and a few people even said they wished they had read both. It got me thinking about how authors sometimes change endings for different editions or markets. Has anyone else run into a book where you had to pick one ending over another and regretted it?

Yeah @drew_west is right, just do both and skip the drama next time.

Honestly, should've just read both and picked your fave anyway.
