Did that Stephen King ending work for you or did it fall flat on its face?

I used to think any weird twist was automatically a great ending. When I read the end of 'The Dark Tower' years ago, I was fully on board with the whole reset loop thing. It felt deep and meaningful at the time. But I just reread it last month after a buddy of mine in my book club said he hated it. Now I see his point. That ending feels kind of cheap now, like the author just backed out of having a real conclusion. It makes me wonder if my tastes have changed or if I just wasn't paying attention the first time. Has anyone else flipped sides on a famous bizarre book ending after giving it another shot?

Five bucks says you are thinking about this way too much.

I read an article just yesterday that basically said the same thing you are saying @caseywest, about how people overthink stuff like this all the time. The piece talked about how our brains get stuck in loops when we try to solve problems that don't really have clear answers, and it just makes us more stressed. It reminded me of that old saying about how a watched pot never boils, you know? Some things just need less attention and they work themselves out. I've been there myself, overanalyzing something for hours only to realize I was making it way more complicated than it needed to be. So yeah, I think you are probably right that overthinking is the real enemy here.
