A writing professor told me my endings were too neat and tidy
He said real life doesn't wrap up in a bow, so now I always leave my final chapter with at least one question unanswered or a thread dangling. Anyone else get that feedback and start hating happy endings?

Lean into that messy ending thing more. Some of the best books I've read left me sitting there wondering what happened next, and that stuck with me way longer than any neat wrap up.

Honestly it's like how the best conversations with people don't always have a clean ending either lol. That weird pause and being like 'well... anyway' feels more real than a perfect sign off.
