A librarian in Tulsa handed me a book with the last page torn out and told me that was the point
Back in March I was killing time at a library branch off 21st in Tulsa when the lady behind the desk saw me frowning at a paperback with its final page ripped clean out. She said a guy donated a whole box of novels like that, and she almost tossed them, then she read one and got hooked, because you have to build the ending yourself. I checked out three of them and she was right, guessing the last page turned out way more fun than being handed it. She called it a "broken spine club" and now I look for torn books at every sale I pass. What's the strangest copy of a book you ever picked up on purpose?
