Unpopular opinion: hitting 500 straight razor shaves didn't make me better
Everyone talks about how reaching a certain number of cuts or shaves is this big milestone that makes you a pro. I hit 500 straight razor shaves last month. I thought I'd feel different or be way smoother. Honestly, I still mess up the jawline on some guys just as much as I did at 300. The number didn't suddenly unlock some secret. What actually helped was spending a month focusing just on my blade angle, not counting anything. Anyone else think we put too much stock in milestones?

500 shaves is awesome but 300 is still a lot too.

That's a good point, @corad84 - hitting three hundred is still a solid milestone that most people never reach. It's kind of like how in any hobby, people always focus on the top numbers (like 500 or 1000) but forget that the real skill is just showing up and sticking with something for years. You know, the same thing happens with running or reading books - everyone talks about the hundredth race or the thousandth novel, but the real win is just being consistent enough to get to 300 in the first place. That's a lot of mornings (or evenings) where you chose to do the thing instead of something else, which is harder than it sounds.
