That old barber at Ray's shop told me to stop using cheap clipper oil

I been using the store brand stuff for years cause it was like $3 a bottle but last month Ray's old timer told me it was clogging my blades. Switched to a real clipper oil and my Andis Masters stopped heating up mid haircut after 6 months of trouble. Anybody else have a cheap tool that was actually costing you more in the long run?

My dad had a craftsman drill he bought in 1987. Used it for everything from building a deck to fixing fence posts. Would not die. Then he bought a set of cheap harbor freight drill bits for like ten bucks. They snapped on the third hole he tried to drill. Ended up spending forty bucks on a set of dewalt bits that are still going strong five years later. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

Did the dewalt bits ever chip or break on you after heavy use, or are they really that bulletproof?
