That guy at the barber supply in Denver lectured me about clipper maintenance for 20 minutes

I was just trying to buy some new blades and this old timer goes off on how I'm ruining my Osters by not oiling them after every single cut. He said he's had the same pair for 12 years without replacing a single part. Made me feel like a slacker, but honestly who has time to oil clippers between every walk-in when you're booked solid? Anyone else get guilt tripped by the supply shop guys or is it just me?

Oil them once at the start of the day and once after your last cut if you're slammed, that keeps most of the gunk off without slowing you down. Those old timers forget we're running a business not a hobby shop. A quick blast of compressed air between clients does more good than stopping to oil every chair.
