My barber growing up knew every neighbor by name.

I mean, he'd chat with folks about their lives while cutting hair. It wasn't just a service, it was part of the block's rhythm. Idk, things feel more separate now.

My neighbor still waters my plants when I'm out of town, but we only talk about it through texts. Makes me wonder if the online part is just the paperwork for the real thing. Feels like we moved the boring meetings to social media but kept the actual friendships offline. Hard to have a backyard barbecue in a group chat.
