I went with the clipper over the straight razor for my own cut
Most guys in my shop swear by a straight razor for a clean finish, but I decided to do my own fade at home with just my Wahl clippers. Picked up a metal guard set for like 30 bucks and went for it. Honestly, the blend came out smoother than I expected and I saved the 40 dollar barber fee. Has anyone else had luck skipping the razor on themselves?

Ngl, I think you're missing the whole point of a barber cut if you're calling a clipper fade a win. A straight razor gives you that crisp, zero-fade line that clippers just can't touch, especially around the ears and neckline. I've seen dudes come in with "home fades" that look okay from the front but have this jagged edge in the back that screams DIY. Plus, razors get in closer for that edge-up on the sideburns, and clippers leave a tiny shadow that messes with the whole polished look. Honestly, if you're happy with it and saved some cash, good for you, but don't act like you're getting the same result as a shop cut.

Yeah but "zero fade line" isn't really a thing though, right?
