I think the push for every barber to have an Instagram full of skin fades is missing the point of the job.

After a client in my chair yesterday said he chose me because my page showed I could give a great, simple haircut that would grow out nicely, not just a fresh lineup, it made me realize we might be overvaluing flash over function for the average guy.

Check his tagged photos. Usually tells the real story.

Tagged photos can be misleading though... people only tag the good ones. My cousin's page looks like a party, but he's really just at home most nights. The untagged life is usually way more boring, and that's the real story. You're only seeing the highlights someone wanted to share.
