I just hit my 500th beard trim and the last one was a real surprise

I was finishing up a regular shape-up for a client when he casually mentioned he was heading to a medieval fair. He asked if I could give him a 'Viking braid' in his beard. I had to figure it out on the spot with some wax and a lot of patience! It actually turned out pretty cool, but I never expected that request to be my milestone cut. What's the most unexpected style someone has asked you for?

Honestly that sounds like a pretty normal request for a barber.

Normal" to ask for a haircut with a straight razor? That's wild.

Yeah, calling it "wild" is a bit much. It's a classic barber tool for cleaning up the neckline and sideburns. Jennyh33 is right, it's a normal part of a lot of haircuts. I read an article about how a lot of guys specifically ask for the straight razor finish because it looks sharper. It's not like they're using it for the whole cut, just the details. Feels like some people just aren't used to traditional barber stuff.
