Hot towel or cold towel after a straight razor shave - I visited a shop in Portland that only does cold and I'm not sure how I feel about it
I was down in Portland last weekend visiting a buddy and he took me to this barbershop that apparently has a thing about never using hot towels. They use cold towels after the shave and claim it tightens the pores better and reduces irritation. I've been a hot towel guy my whole career. My clients expect that warm wrap. But I gotta admit, my face felt pretty good after the cold treatment and no redness. Has anyone else tried this or is it just a weird Portland thing? What's your shop do?

Man cold towels were a total game changer for me after I tried it on a whim a couple years ago. My skin used to get all blotchy and irritated with the hot towels and I just figured that was normal until I switched. Now I barely get any redness or bumps and honestly the cold feels way more refreshing especially in the morning.
