Heard a customer say clippers are all the same. Got me thinking about skill vs tools.

Ngl, I was doing a fade on this guy yesterday and he goes "my buddy cuts his own hair with a $30 Walmart clipper and it looks fine." Made me wonder how much of our craft is the tool vs the hand holding it. I've seen barbers with top-tier gear put out mediocre work, and old-school dudes with beat up Andis make magic happen. So what do you think - is it 70% skill, 30% tool? Or the other way around?

Oh man, my buddy borrowed his cousin's broken clippers once. Total disaster.

See I kind of disagree though. Borrowing broken gear is a gamble but sometimes it works out if you know what you're doing. Maybe it's just me but I've used janky clippers before and gotten decent cuts, just takes a little patience.
