Had to pick between a classic straight razor and a modern shavette for a guy with sensitive skin. Went with the shavette for hygiene and it was the right call.

Oh man, that's smart. @jamieburns has a point about the lighter touch changing everything. Reminds me of when I tried a single blade safety razor after years of those four blade monsters. The whole process just slows you down. You focus on the angle and the lather, not just hacking away. My sink looked less like a crime scene after that switch.

Consider how a shavette forces you to use a lighter touch. You can't bear down like you might with a heavy straight razor. That gentle pressure alone saves my neck from a world of red bumps and irritation. It's less about the blade and more about how the tool changes your whole technique. My skin improved because I was finally forced to shave correctly.

Completely agree with this. Switched to a shavette a few months back and it literally forced me to unlearn all the bad habits I had with cartridge razors. My neck used to look like a pepperoni pizza every morning and now it's actually clear.
