Clipper blade gave out mid-fade on a wedding party of 6

Last Saturday I had a full chair, four groomsmen plus the groom all booked back to back. Third head in, my Andis blade just started tugging and pulling instead of cutting clean. I had no backup blade in my kit, only a spare machine at home which might as well have been on the moon at that point. I had to stop mid-fade, apologize to the guy, and drive 20 minutes to a supply shop that was about to close. Cost me 28 bucks for a new blade and I lost 40 minutes of prime time, but the fade finished okay and nobody walked out upset. Still, it got me thinking, how many of you carry a full spare clipper or at least an extra blade set in your bag at all times? I used to think it was overkill, but now I'm honestly reconsidering my whole setup.

...wait, you drove 20 minutes mid-fade and left the guy sitting in the chair? Man, that's wild. I've had blades die on me before, sure, but I always had a spare in the drawer at the shop. Still, that panic moment when you feel the tug and know you're about to lose the client's trust, I get it completely. My rule now is if I'm doing more than two cuts in a day, the backup blade goes in the bag no matter what. I learned that after ruining a kid's first haircut with a dull blade, and the mom was not happy. So yeah, you're not crazy for rethinking your setup, 28 bucks is way cheaper than a bad review or a wedding party panic.
