Clipper blade gap is a bigger deal than I thought

I compared my usual 0.5 gap against a 0.3 on the same client last Tuesday in Portland. Same clipper, same fade pattern, but the 0.3 left a way cleaner blend with zero tugging on his coarse hair. I always blamed the clipper or my hand speed, but it was just the gap all along. Have you guys measured your blade gap with a feeler gauge or do you just eyeball it?

Tuesday I ran a 0.5 on the same hair type and it blended fine, so maybe your hand was off.
