A quiet haircut taught me to listen more
I used to think the best cuts came from total silence in my chair. One day, a man sat down and just needed someone to hear him out. After that, I noticed he booked more appointments and seemed happier. Now I make room for a bit of conversation without rushing. Has anyone else found that listening changes your client relationships?

Is this really about haircuts or are we overthinking a basic service job? I get that being nice helps, but it's not that deep... some folks just want a trim without the life story. Maybe that guy just liked your haircuts and had more events to go to. Turning every chat into some big relationship shift feels like a stretch.

Had a waiter once decode my lunch order like it was a therapy session. Not every choice needs a backstory.

Wait hold up, a waiter did a therapy session on a lunch order? I mean come on, that's wild. It's one thing to be friendly but decoding why someone picks the soup is next level. Maybe some of us do read into small talk too much, but turning a sandwich choice into a deep thing feels like the opposite problem. Idk, maybe it's just me but that would make me never go back to that place.
