My cake split in half and I almost cried in the grocery store
Last Tuesday I baked a strawberry cake for my neighbor's birthday. Looked perfect coming out of the pan. Then I went to flip it onto the cooling rack and it just cracked right down the middle. Half of it landed on my kitchen floor. Had to rush to the store at 8pm to buy a bakery cake. The lady at the checkout said "rough day?" and I just nodded. Has anyone else had a cake collapse on them like that?

Nah, that's just the cake telling you it's time for a floor tasting.

Man, I've been there. Dropped a whole tray of lemon bars right on the kitchen floor once (still ate them, no shame). There's something about seeing your hard work splattered across the linoleum that just hits different. Sending you good vibes and maybe a mop.

5 second rule applies to anything that lands on a clean floor, so you're fine. Next time let the cake cool completely before you try to move it, that's when it falls apart. Also line your pan with parchment paper so you can lift the whole thing out in one piece. @victor_butler50 is right about floor tasting being a thing, I've done it plenty of times after a spill. A wet paper towel gets the crumbs up faster than a mop, just press down and lift. You'll be more careful next batch.
