Spent $45 on a cheap digital scale and it messed up my whole week

I bought this no-name scale off Amazon to save money and it was off by like 20 grams on flour every time. Had to toss three batches of cookie dough before I figured out what was wrong. Anyone else get burned by bad equipment before?

Twenty grams off is brutal, especially for cookies where ratios matter. I had a similar issue with a thermometer from a brand I couldn't even pronounce, it read 25 degrees too low and I ruined a whole brisket. Did you try calibrating that scale with a nickel or something before you trashed it, or was it just too far gone from the start?
