Showerthought: the $24 jar of "artisan" starter I ordered online was just flour and water with a fancy label
I figured I'd skip the hassle of growing my own, but it never rose right and a guy at the farmers market in Grand Rapids told me I basically paid for a jar of paste. Has anyone actually had luck with a mail order starter, or am I better off just asking a local bakery for a pinch?
