My stand mixer died mid batch on Saturday, and the hand mixer fix worked better than expected
Saturday morning, 7am, right in the middle of a double batch of cinnamon rolls for a farmer's market order. My 6 year old stand mixer just stopped. No warning, no weird noise, just dead. I had 2 pounds of dough sitting there and 40 rolls to get done by 10am. Grabbed my $20 hand mixer from the cabinet and finished the whole thing with it, mixing in 3 batches. Honestly? The dough came out smoother than usual. I think I was overworking it in the stand mixer. Has anyone else had a stand mixer die on them like that, and did you fix it or just switch to hand mixing for good?
What was the actual failure on the mixer, did it just blow the fuse or did the motor burn out? Curious because mine quit last year and it turned out to be a $3 thermal fuse I soldered in myself. If that's all yours needs you might be back in business for cheap.
