Just realized my neighbors expect free pastries every weekend

Honestly, I bake for fun, but now my whole block thinks I'm running a charity. Tbh, it started with one loaf of banana bread, and now I get texts every Saturday. They even ask for specific things like croissants or cupcakes. Ngl, I'm thinking of charging them or just stopping altogether because it's eating into my own supplies.

Set a clear limit right now before it gets worse. Tell them you're only baking one thing every other Saturday and it's first come first served. Did this myself last year after my freezer was full of dough I never got to eat. People will adjust once they know the free ride is over.

What's the worst that could happen if you put your foot down?

My friend had the same "put your foot down" moment with her book club always expecting her to host and provide all the snacks. She finally said she could only bring one simple thing per month, not a full spread. They grumbled for a week but then someone else stepped up, and it saved her a lot of money and stress.
