I finally moved out after my roommate's 3am laundry runs woke me up 11 times in one month
Three weeks ago I started counting how many times my roommate ran the washer and dryer between 2am and 5am in our apartment near Tacoma. I got to 11 before I stopped keeping track. She said she liked doing laundry when the power was cheaper, but our bill only dropped by about $7 that month. I work early, and the machine sounds like a jet engine through the wall next to my bed. I asked her to switch to weekends and she agreed, then did it again that same night. I told my landlord and he basically shrugged, so now I'm looking at studios in Federal Way. Has anyone had luck getting a roommate to actually stick to quiet hours, or is moving the only fix?
My old roommate in Lakewood did the same thing with dishes, said she'd handle it then let them sit for a week, and I realized some people just agree to get you off their back in the moment. It's like how everyone says they'll "definitely" do something and then nothing changes, you almost have to watch what they do, not what they say. Federal Way studios might actually be cheaper than fighting this every night.
