Wasted $400 on a prefab shed kit from Home Depot

Tbh I thought I was saving money by assembling it myself but the instructions were garbage and half the panels didn't line up. Anyone else deal with a shed kit that was basically a scam?

The 8x12 "EasyAssemble" kit right? I helped a buddy install one of those last spring and we had the exact same problem with the wall panels not lining up. In my experience those Home Depot kits are hit or miss depending on which manufacturer you get. The instructions are clearly written by someone who never actually tried to build one of these things. If you still have the box check the fine print about panel tolerances, a lot of them allow for up to a half inch gap that you're supposed to shim yourself. Your mileage may vary but I've found it helps to sort through all the studs first and match up the straightest ones for the side that faces the street.
