TIL I was leveling my shed floor all wrong for years
I built a small storage shed in my backyard about 5 years ago and I used a regular carpenter's level to check the ground. I'd just lay it on the dirt and call it good if it looked close enough. But my doors always stuck and water pooled in one corner every time it rained. Last spring I finally bought a laser level for $60 at Home Depot in Arlington and set it up properly. I found out my floor was off by nearly 2 inches across the whole slab. Now I always shoot a grid pattern across the whole area before I pour gravel or concrete. Has anyone else dealt with a floor that seemed level but turned out to be way off?

@harper_owens how long did it take you to figure out the grid pattern?

Always use a grid pattern, that's the real secret. Even a cheap laser level beats guessing with a bubble level.
