Relied on my brother's leveling advice and now the floor slopes toward the door
My brother helped me frame my 10x12 shed last spring, and he swore the ground was level enough if I just shimmed the low corner. He said the 1/4 inch drop over 10 feet would settle out once I put the weight of the roof on. Well, it didn't. After six months of rain, that corner sank another inch and now the door won't close without lifting it. I pulled up three floorboards last weekend and found standing water pooling right at the threshold. I should have rented a laser level and done the base properly instead of trusting his eyeball method. Has anyone else built on a questionable pad and had to jack the whole structure up to fix it? I'm looking at a 2 day job now with a bottle jack and some pier blocks and I want to know if that's the right approach.

Did your brother also tell you the door was "close enough" when he hung it crooked? Because that's the same energy as using a wet noodle for a level. Yeah, bottle jack and pier blocks will work, but you're going to want to dig down deep enough for some crushed stone or you'll be doing this again next spring. I'd also grab a 4 foot level and a string line before you start, cause eyeballing it AGAIN is how you got here in the first place.
