My shed foundation ended up costing 3x what I planned for
I started building a 10x12 shed in my backyard in Cleveland last spring and figured I'd just level some gravel and call it good. After digging down I hit clay that wouldn't compact, so I ended up pouring a concrete slab that ran me almost $900 instead of the $300 I budgeted. Anyone else run into surprise costs because of their soil type?

Clay is the worst, man. We had the same issue with a patio and ended up having to bring in crushed stone instead of just sand.

Oh man, did you have to dig out all the clay first or just layer the crushed stone on top?
