My neighbor in Charlotte said my shed looked 'too perfect' and needed some character, which made me finally add the window boxes I'd been thinking about for months.

I mean, I'd been so focused on getting the lines straight and the paint even that I forgot it's supposed to look like it belongs back there, not like a showroom model, so has anyone else had a moment like that where a simple comment pushed you to finally do a small project?

Oh totally. I get what @blakem82 is saying, but my shed looked so new it was weird. Threw some old scrap wood on it to weather it up. Made a huge difference.

Disagree completely. My shed is a tool, not a decoration. I built it to keep my mower dry and my tools organized, not to win a charm contest from the sidewalk. If a neighbor told me my work was "too perfect," I'd just take it as a compliment that I measured twice and cut once. Adding window boxes sounds nice, but for me, function always beats forced character.
