My DIY gazebo roof collapsed during a BBQ in my Denver backyard

I was grilling burgers for my brother's birthday when the whole tarp roof on my cheap gazebo sagged and dumped a gallon of rainwater right on the grill. The burgers sizzled out and everyone just stared at me holding a spatula while water dripped off my hat. Anybody got tips for reinforcing a temporary roof before the next party?

Man, that's rough. Honestly, I felt secondhand embarrassment just reading that, like a BBQ cold open for a sitcom. Ngl, you could try zip-tying the tarp to the frame instead of just draping it, or add a few bungee cords to pull it tight so it doesn't pool water like a birdbath. Tbh, those cheap gazebos are basically just tents for adults, so maybe pick a spot with a slight slope next time so the water runs off instead of camping out on the roof. Hope your brother got a laugh out of it at least, or maybe a rain check for the burgers.
