I finally chose between a shed and a carport for my lawn equipment
After months of going back and forth, I had to pick between a $600 shed kit and a $400 carport at my place in Austin. I went with the carport because I figured it would be easier to move stuff in and out for the mower and trimmer. But then a storm last Tuesday blew the tarp right off and soaked my edger. Now I'm wishing I just got the shed, has anyone else regretted a carport for storage?

Saw a post on Nextdoor where a guy in San Antonio said the same thing happened to him. The winds just rip those tarps apart eventually.

Yeah those cheap tarps on carports are basically just temporary covers. I learned that the hard way too. If you're stuck with the carport frame you could try getting a heavy duty tarp with reinforced grommets and bungee cords instead of rope. Or you could build some simple plywood sides to block the wind. But honestly if you can still return the carport frame I'd do that and get the shed. The $200 difference is worth it for something that won't blow apart. A metal shed anchored to a concrete pad will hold up way better in Texas wind.
