DAE have a shed that turned into a total mouse hotel?

My 8x10 shed in the backyard was overrun after a cold snap in November. I found a nest made from my old potting soil bags and chewed up seed packets. What's the best way to mouse-proof a wooden shed without using poison?

Steel wool is a classic move, but doesn't it just get pushed out or rust into a mess after a season? What do you do about the bigger gaps around the door or where the shed meets the foundation, stuff a whole Brillo pad in there?

Steel wool stuffed into every gap works better than you'd think. Then get some of those black plastic snap traps and bait them with peanut butter.
