Tried putting crushed eggshells in my chicken feed and got way more eggs than before
I heard somewhere that chickens need extra calcium so last month I started crushing up our used eggshells and mixing them into their layer feed. I didn't expect much but honestly within like 2 weeks my 6 hens went from 3 eggs a day to 5 or 6 almost every day. The shells on the eggs themselves also feel harder and less fragile which is nice. Has anyone else had their flock respond this fast to a simple diet change?

Oh man that's wild. Tbh I tried the same thing with my ducks a few years back and it totally backfired. I was crushing up the shells into tiny pieces but I think I went too fine and they started eating it like a treat instead of just getting the calcium boost. Then they got super picky with their regular feed for like a week. My wife was not happy about that mess.
